Beginnings
In 2009, Todd and Carissa Davis, with several other families & individuals, were by Heritage Bible Church in Greer, SC, to plant Redeemer Bible Church in Brighton, Colorado. Over time, God raised up additional workers in Brighton and the surrounding Denver metro area to assist in planting and growing Redeemer, and His kind providence to provide people to build His Church was evident throughout the process. Sometimes this included hardship and times of intense testing, but God was always faithful to provide and care for His children.
We started meeting publicly at a hotel in Brighton in January of 2010. Then in August of the same year, we began meeting in the gymnasium of a local school. In early 2013 God provided the finances to purchase the building we meet in now, which was paid off in 2018.
2017 Leadership Transition
At the end of the spring of 2017, Todd announced that God had been leading him and his family to begin pursuing ministry in France. Ryan Fisher (one of Redeemer’s other elders) also announced that he and his family would be joining them to assist in their ministry. That summer the leaders and members of Redeemer agreed to send these families out and become their sending church. The elders put forward Matt LaCava, another current elder at the time, as a candidate to replace Todd as the lead pastor, and after the candidating process was complete, the leadership and membership affirmed Matt unanimously as the new lead pastor.
2024 Calvary Family of Churches
On Sept 15, 2024 the congregation unanimously voted to accept the invitation of the Calvary Family of Churches to become part of their family. This was the culmination of a process of multiple years of discussions with the CFC, conversations as a church leadership team, and soliciting input from our church members. The process was lengthy, but at every step God was confirming what the elders and deacons were sensing together: that this was an important step for the long term vision and mission of our church. When we joined the Calvary Family, our church was renamed “Calvary Redeemer”, embracing the shared name of the Calvary Family.
We remain the same church, autonomous as we were before, with the same doctrinal & philosophical distinctives that we’ve had from our church’s beginning, but now enjoying the benefit of putting “Kingdom over Castle” through joining hands with churches in our area and around the nation who are seeking to make joyful, passionate disciples of Jesus.
